Sneak preview of one of many new MacArthur songs! This song will eventually get the full band treatment, but here it is in all of its stripped-down glory. Lyrics are partly inspired by something I read of Herman Melville's.

I found the secret. Stepped through the portal
But no one believes me, I’m merely mortal
I found the secret, and now, no longer confused
I called you up with the good news

And the feeding frenzy in the sea
Surrounded by sharks and gulls
Looks like a rocks and reefs to the
Ship that makes the map
So we avoid it for a generation
And call that Tradition

The pills you gave me, to treat the symptoms
Are made of pabulum, so I didn’t take them
Panel of experts convened,
To close the curtains on the screen
And I politely clapped for our team

And some guy looks at the map and sees it’s flat
So the world looks flat to him as well
And he folds it, molds it, reads it to his cat
The Rabbis provide exposition
We call that Religion

Tide brought a bottle still with its seal
Though the melted lead is sweet it’s a toxin
A tiny note therein concealed
But I’m gonna toss it back in the ocean

And the whale that’s dying in the sea
With breaking waves and gulls
Looks like rocks and reefs to the
Ship that makes the map
So we avoid it for generations

I found the secret. Stepped through the portal

MacArthur Los Angeles, California

Featuring the music and words of Arthur Winer. In the late-90s, MacArthur gained a reputation as a melodic, power pop quartet featuring original, lyrically- sophisticated songwriting and Neil Young-like guitar solos from Winer.

Now in LA, MacArthur is back with a new band. Check out 2014’s THE FALL GUY for the New York/Los Angeles transition-era tunes.
